Steam not validating game files

Whether you are using an n Vidia card or AMD, you should make sure that your game is being run using the graphics card for gaming.

Step 7: Click play and Steam will re-install and launch your game. Verifying the Integrity of your Game Cache will fix your install if there are corrupted or missing files in your game.

When you try to launch the game again, the game will be fixed if Steam finds anything wrong with it and should be fully operational!

The file should have been created in a \Data sub-directory in that directory. Under Vista, if you are not running as Administrator, the data file may have been created in a shadow directory (with a name like "\Users\Me\App Data\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3\Data"), where it is visible to the GECK but not to the Fallout3 launcher.

You can avoid this by always running the GECK as Administrator or by modifying the USERS permissions for the Fallout 3 directory ONCE.

Not all features may be available in both versions of the editor, so there may be some discrepancies when adapting instructions from one version to the other.
